Simon - my favorite photo - taken on our honeymoon, March 1998

Happy Birthday to my gorgeous husband Simon :).
A midweek birthday... hmmm. I hate midweek birthdays... you can't spoil your loved ones quite as much when you know its a school night.
That said I am taking him out for a special night and we are planning "the Cox Cup" an annual Go Kart event for Saturday afternoon.
And a couple more surprises in store for him too.

To wish him a happy birthday today

I uploaded a new shot to the Mirror Project last night, at midnight, and lo and behold 5 minutes later it was online. The amazing differences in time zones.

chinatown signs - the closure of the oldest HDB block in singapore

Been a lovely weekend with Ben. Shopping, wandering, Museums, food, drinks, chats and lots of catching up.
Last night out with Sharon, Andy, Simon, Ben (x2) and Liz for dinner at the "Coriander Leaf" restaurant. Gorgeous.

A late one... not home to bed till after 4am.
Today, lazy! A swim, then brunch by the river at the "daily Bread" bakery whilst there was a huge downpour. Lovely to be sitting outside with the newspaper, mushrooms on toast and good coffee.

Tonight, dinner in and some movies. Already watched "Being John Malkovich" again, and "Best in Show".

Back to work tomorrow, and Ben leaves me at 11pm

Chinatown - Singapore

This is a re-post, due to my blog being down for days on end.
After ages of playing with the ftp path I sorted it out... AT LAST!

This shot was taken on one of my many treks between our offices. Currently under rennovation, Batey Singapore has seen the creatives displaced in Amoy street with the account service staff in Ann Siang Road for 6 weeks, but now its all reversed. We, the creatives have a new home, an open plan one! (photos to come). Still, the trekking between the buildings continue as the Account Service staff take up residence in Amoy.

Finally I have my new front page blog working, but for now It's keeping a little quiet.

I just moved my domain and hosting last night so things may go a little haywire in the next few days.
Now I am at MT and their services already seem so much better (and easier to use). I have already started programming a new postcard system that uses all these shots that I take (they ought to be good for something!) I'll add a post when they become functional.

new: The Mirror Project is having technical dificulties so I am twiddling my thumbs for external to work inspiration. Have been meaning to take part in
100things for ages.
site of the day:
missprinted type. Gorgeous, textural, offline, artistic.
fun:
super soccer. A Groovy new online Flash game. Now if only I could work out how to play it :(
cool:
time log. Like my "jenwear" but a little more drawn out than a daily shot you can watch the passing years.... I must do this for my children (one day)
boxershots: Went to watch Alvin and Dan (from Saatchi's)
driving in a rally in a Kallang carpark,on Sunday.
diary updates: My brother Ben arrives on Thursday night for 4 days, enroute from Adelaide to Albania via me in Singapore and sister Miriam in London.
travel: Planning a trip away with Simon to Shanghai in early November.

Just like Pussarelli I stayed home all day

So why this blog works and my other one doesn't baffles the hell out of me.
I have reloaded the template at least 20 times, I have recreated the templates from scratch, I have used thier templates without touching them.. but still nothing but BLOG TAGS :(

They will not get me down... I CAN do this....

Tired day after huge day yesterday. Meeting went brilliantly, then I went out for a couple fo drinks and ended up out till 3am with Simon and Allan, eating, drinking and trying to solve all the problems of the world.
Tonight? a quite night for now... but maybe to Toro's party later? maybe!

kuta textures - memories of bali

I am still shocked and stunned that such carnage and destruction has happened in one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have had the pleasure to visit.

My thoughts go out to the familes of the stricken, injured and missing, and to the wonderful Balinese people who always made me feel so much at home. I hope that someday soon we can get beyond all this fear and anger and grow to realise that we are all one race, one people in one world.

mohommed sultan road - singapore - sunday

Woke early slept in, made bagels and tea for us for breakfast then we set off for the Singapore Art Museum. In almost 2 years here we still had never been (that's appauling!) The major Exhibition was called Naked Perfection, nudity in Art, a little risque for Singapore one might say... but actually it was very tame, and very small as an exhibition!
Next we walked to Sim Lim to look at DV cameras. Simon wants to make a film so we are searching for the right one. So far we like this one.

Next to Orchard in search of an Atlas at Kinokinuya then shopping. I bought Simon some new shoes and 4 new tops... he looks very cute now :)

Lunch at a bakery on the river and read the paper only to see the shocking news about the bomb blasts in Bali. Makes me sad to think such horrible things are happening in such a beautiful and peaceful place, and a place we love to go... we were only there 3 weeks ago. I also feel for all the families of the traveller victims from Australia and no doubt countless other countries.

Went wandering around Mohommed Sultan Road looking for locations for a shoot Simon has this week, and then a little tired and very hot we staggered home and fell straight into the pool. Tonight, dinner again, then a little TV, some we surfing and uploading some shots.

Ready for another week.....?

circle of friends - brown is the new black premiere

Friday night saw the premiere of Ganesh and Jo's short feature film "Brown is the new Black". Everyone was there and I had fun playing Papparrazzo for a while. The film was great so proud of them both. Please have a look at it (it's viewable online in 56k modem or for broadband. The Rap "boys" were going off... Suddenly felt like I was in New York, Not Singapore!
Went home relatively early after a harrowing week and resolved NOT TO WORK all weekend.

Spent Saturday being amazingly girly.
Supermarket shopping, well thats a bit more "wifey", then some shopping for "things" then off for a facial and other pampering. Simon spent the day searching for waves in Desaru (Malaysia). Home at last to pack away the new stock of groceries, make a nice meal for the 2 of us (alfredo tortellini) with a nice bottle of Botrytis Riesling and a movie on cable, "Good Will Hunting" - AGAIN!.

One of my Mirror Shots was rejected so I resubmitted this one and then also had a new themed submission approved a tribute to the jens

my site of the day? red chopsicks (illustrations for wallpaper magazine) just beautiful!

youth park, singapore. a great sentiment for 2002

Wednesday: Feeling very run down. Its finally all catching up with me. But I have to think positive and get better. Very drained and a bit fluey dammit! sore throat etc!

My computer at work died yesterday but thank heavens and thanks to Gina the world's best and grooviest IT chick, it's better now. It only took her 6 hours to sort out!

Tonight I am having an early one... straight to bed to ward off the lurgy! I am supposed to be out with a client for drinks... but it's not so good to make your clients sick :(

News? I got top marks in Design Marathon motto five with a little depiction of my life in pixel style ( just like my jenwear!) (check motto 5 scores!)

site of the day?
kalle singer - photographer for the photographs but also for the nifty loaders and whizz bang flash work and also fafi for the illustrations
